A number of KFO members travelled to the Hirsel Estate near Coldstream in Roxburgh Reivers territory. The event combined a standard SoSOL with the 2014 East of Scotland Championships.
Although the weather was bright the going underfoot was muddy throughout the lovely parkland setting. Most courses favoured running skills over technical navigation. But this was balanced by a special section in dense rhododendron thickets which required very careful map reading.
At a SoSOL you are free to run any course which suits you but to win your ESOA trophy you have to run the designated course.
Special congratulations to Phil Smithard who became ESOA M65 Champion
