Preliminary Details




This Event will take place in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline (Fife/Scotland) extending into the town area bordered by Glen Bridge, Carnegie Drive, St Margaret’s Drive and Nethertown Broad Street.

This is an orienteering event. Competitors are given a map with control points marked and must visit each control in sequence. Control points will be identified on the ground with an orange/white flag. Attendance at each control is evidenced from a digital recording device (SI card) carried by the competitor, available for hire at no extra cost. A charge of £35 will be made if lost.


The map has been created especially for this event and has drawn to ISSOM2007 at 1:4000 with a 5m contour interval.


The area is varied, encompassing old town structures and well maintained fast parkland. Most competitors will experience alleyways, quiet streets and a steep sided gorge providing interesting route choices.


The assembly area is in the 2nd Fife Scout Hall in West End Park at the end of Berrylaw Place, Dunfermline, KY12 8AG. OS Grid Reference: NT 081 875


It is possible to travel to this event using public transport depending on your location. Time to Assembly from public transport hubs:

Dunfermline Town Train Station – 25 mins walk. [Not Queen Margaret Station]

Dunfermline Bus Station – 11 mins walk.


Parking will be within West End Park, Berrylaw Place, Dunfermline adjacent to the Scout Hall. Please use the designated parking, car share where possible or use public transport.


Enquiries, Registration, Download and Results will be situated in the Assembly Area at the Scout Hall. Toilets will be available in the Hall. A baggage area will be available for those travelling via public transport.

Several courses will be available of varied difficulty and distance. M/W Open, M/W Vet, M/W Super Vet, M/W Ultra Vet, M/W 16-, M/W 12-. See Final Details nearer to the event date.


Registration in the Scout Hall will be open from 10:30am for EOD and SI hire. Registration will close at 12:45pm. The hall will remain open throughout the day.

Start Times

11am – 1pm. 5 mins walk from Assembly to Start.


There is one Finish, for all courses, in Pittencrieff Park. The Assembly area is not on the competition map ie it is distinct from the course finish. You must report to the Finish by 14:30 ​even if you do not complete your course.


There are no restrictions on dogs.


Competitors take part at their own risk.

In the event of inclement weather, cagoules may be compulsory.

This is a public area, please respect members of the public, including walkers, dog-walkers, cyclists, children playing, shoppers, church-goers etc.

All competitors must report to download soon after finishing, even if you (or anyone in your party) retire or do not complete the course.

Child Safety

Competitors take part at their own risk. Under 17s must enter the junior course as British Orienteering rules specify no major road crossings for safety reasons. Young and inexperienced orienteers may be shadowed (or accompanied).
